How much time do you spend getting to know your new clients, and vice versa?
It's definitely time well spent, and essential to providing great service as a real estate agent. But wouldn't it be nice if your potential clients already knew a lot about you before you were actually introduced? The less time you have to spend selling yourself and your services is time that can be invested back into your clients.
The internet has become the place to start for home buyers and sellers, and it's just as easy to pre-evaluate a real estate agent as it is a property for sale. Most agents have a web site - so how do you stand out from the rest?
That's where blogs can make a big impact. Blogs are much more personal than web sites, and because they are written by you - the agent - it's easier to make a personal connection with a potential client. Besides reading about your professional experience, they can gain a sense of who you are through your writing.
Here are a few ideas of what you can do with your blog to help establish a personal connection before you meet a potential client:
1. Become a Local Expert -
Blogs are a great way to let people know you're a local expert - without specifically telling them. Show them you're knowledgeable by explaining industry terms in understandable language. Answer the questions that continually get asked with an article about the topic. Point out local events or cool places to visit. After awhile your "published knowledge" will speak for itself, and you will be a local expert.
2. Demonstrate Your Services -
Through your blog, you can let potential clients know in advance of the service they can expect. Using personal anecdotes and real life examples that show the kind of service you provide will make future clients more comfortable, and may answer some of their questions in advance.
3. Establish a Professional History -
Because of the nature of blogs, they can act as an ongoing, evolving CV. One that potential clients can use as a reference for evaluating your experience and work history.
4. Promote Your Marketing Efforts -
Having a blog and keeping it up to date says a few things about your marketing efforts; it shows you're comfortable with technology, and a blog is a marketing and communications platform in itself, which helps you help your clients.
